The Law & Trial Association (LTA) is a student organization at UT Dallas dedicated to connecting students with the legal world, regardless of major or career path.
We give students real exposure to the field through events like alumni and lawyer panels, LSAT prep, and our Intramural Mock Trial Competition. Looking ahead, we're expanding with case competitions, law firm tours, and more networking opportunities to help you build connections and confidence before you ever set foot in a courtroom.

THE COMPETITION
LTA's 2025 Intramural Mock Trial Competition
UTD students competed as attorneys in a real Texas courtroom, argued live cases before practicing attorney judges, and collaborated with high school witnesses in LTA's first ever intramural competition.

Build the Skills That Get You Into Law School
Courtroom Experience
Compete in mock trials and build real advocacy skills. LTA's annual competition brings together UTD students and local high schoolers in a full courtroom simulation judged by practicing attorneys.

Join LTA Leadership
LTA is led by its officer team. Officers plan and run our competitions, panels, and workshops, and shape where the organization goes next. Whether you are just starting at UTD or heading into your final year, there is a role for you on the team.
Hands On Law
Attend attorney panels, argue as a lawyer in our intramural mock trial competition, and work real cases in front of practicing attorneys and judges.
Leadership Experience
Every officer owns a defined part of the organization, running projects and making the calls that decide how LTA operates from one semester to the next.
Path to Leadership
Freshmen and sophomores can apply for Coordinator roles, our junior officer positions. Juniors and seniors are eligible for open Director seats on the board.
